This song was the theme song for the 2017-2018 school year for St. John’s Lutheran School in Napa, CA. Our theme that year was based on Joshua 1:9. Joshua was being called by the Lord to be strong and courageous, bold and brave, in the face of the challenge of leading the people of God across the Jordan to take possession of their inheritance from the Lord. God promised to go with Joshua every step of the way, enabling him to be bold and brave. God’s promise to us enables us to be bold and brave each day of our lives. 

This song was also inspired by the attitude with which my mother, Genevieve Schmid, faced her struggle with pancreatic cancer. Her words about being brave served as a catalyst for the direction of the song and are reflected in the words.
