This song was commissioned for Breaking Barriers Ministry, the martial arts ministry of Rev. J. Brown. J uses brick and block breaking to proclaim a powerful, Christ-centered message. His presentation features five principles common to both martial arts and Christian “sinbusting”: Foundation, Faith, Fitness, Focus, and Follow Through. And through it all he leads the audience in chanting the powerful words of Psalm 144: “Bless the Lord who is my Rock; He gives me strength for war and skill for battle.”

Bless The Lord My Rock puts that presentation into song. The chorus proclaims the victory chant of Psalm 144, and each stanza depicts one of the five principles. This song is included in the Breaking Barriers DVD, along with a new setting of “Onward Christian Soldiers.” Thanks to James Regan for his guitar work on these recordings.
