This song is the theme song for the 2016-2017 school year for St. John’s Lutheran School in Napa, CA. Our theme this year is “Under Construction,” chosen because of the number of construction projects taking place on our campus, especially the earthquake repair and seismic upgrading of the sanctuary.

These construction projects remind us that we God is at work in our lives.  God is the master builder, building us up as His people to be living stones in a spiritual house built to His glory.  I am not called to build myself up, but rather that rejoice in the work that God is doing in my life and in the lives of other believers.

The building metaphor that Peter uses in 1 Peter 2 is a helpful picture not only of our individual growth as followers of Jesus, but also how we are called to grow together as a body.
